Runners Set for Post-Thanksgiving Coastal Half Marathon

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) —   Runners will return to Orange Beach this fall for the Coastal Half Marathon, 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run. The race starts at Orange Beach Sportsplex and follows nearby backcountry trails. The event is organized by Magic Sports USA. This post‑Thanksgiving race is now in its seventeenth year.

The 2025 Coastal Half Marathon, 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run are scheduled for Saturday, November 29, 2025. Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports and Events promotes it as a family‑friendly way to extend the holiday weekend.

The half marathon, five-kilometer race and one-mile fun run are all described as flat courses. The routes use paved sections of the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail at Gulf State Park, starting at 4385 William Silvers Parkway in Orange Beach. Organizers highlight coastal scenery and cool late‑November air.

Pre‑race registration and packet pickup are scheduled at Orange Beach Sportsplex on Friday, November 28, from 3 to 5 p.m., according to the event website. On race day, check‑in runs from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. at the Sportsplex before runners head to the start lines.

The half marathon and relay are set to start at 8 a.m. The 5k is scheduled for 8:10 a.m., followed by the one-mile fun run at 8:20 a.m. A post‑race party and awards ceremony will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the finish area.

Age‑group awards will go to the top three male and female finishers in divisions starting under age fourteen and continuing in five‑year brackets through age eighty and older. The half marathon also carries Road Runners Club of America championship awards for open, 40+, 50+ and 60+ male and female runners.

In addition to on‑site racing, Magic Sports USA offers a virtual race option for $50. The virtual entry allows participants to choose any category and distance and complete it from another location while still taking part in the event.
