Orange Beach Planning Commission To Review Oso Site Plan Request
The meeting agenda also includes plans for a new commercial building on Canal Road.

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) –Oso at Bear Point Harbor is hoping to add a new structure between the restaurant’s tiki bar and outside stage. The restaurant previously put up a tent over the area but has since sold and removed it after meeting with city officials. Officials there will now ask the planning commission to approve a site plan for a permanent covering.
The Orange Beach Planning Commission will meet in regular session on March 9 at 4 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
Oso officials are asking for approval for a 30-by-80-foot “open-sided structure” over an outdoor area with synthetic turf and picnic tables. In the past, the area has been used for cornhole tournaments, movies on the lawn, other seasonal kids’ activities, and live music for the bigger bands on the stage at the far east of the area. TheCol Mil Fleet Dolphin Cruises office is behind the stage on the lawn.
During the meeting, the commission will also discuss:
- A request from Nicholas and Vera Dittlinger to subdivide a lot at 5306 Pine Road into two lots.
- A request from Reese Harpel on behalf of Audemus Properties to subdivide a lot at 27127 Palmetto Drive into two lots.
- A request from Donald and Terra Horton to combine two lots at 5392 Ornacor Avenue into one.
Item Submitted But Not Meeting Second Deadline:
- Approving a site plan for a 7,500-square-foot commercial build for Jim Terrell at 24190 Canal Road in an area zoned for general business and east of Lindsey Lane.
