Orange Beach Pickleball Complex Grand Opening Is Set for Next Week
The new facility features 14 lighted courts and is open to all without a membership or reservation

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — The City of Orange Beach is getting ready to open a brand-new pickleball complex, and the city is inviting everyone to come celebrate. The Orange Beach Parks & Recreation Department announced the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Orange Beach Pickleball Complex. The event is free and open to the public, welcoming players of all skill levels. Officials say the facility is designed to serve both residents and visitors from across the region.
The grand opening is set for 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, at the Rec Center Campus, behind the Aquatics Center at 4869 Wilson Blvd. in Orange Beach. The new complex includes 14 lighted courts, shade cabanas, restrooms, and a covered pavilion.
The opening celebration will include a short ceremony and ribbon cutting, free demos for players of all skill levels, light refreshments, and fun promotional giveaways. No registration is needed to attend or participate in the demos.
City officials say the complex puts Orange Beach in a strong position to attract players from well beyond the local area. Pickleball has become one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, drawing players of all ages and backgrounds. The new facility is expected to pull in competitive and recreational players from across the Gulf Coast region.
One of the highlights of the new complex is that it will be open to the public with no reservations or membership required. That means anyone can show up and play, whether they are a full-time resident or a tourist visiting for the week. City leaders say the open-access policy was an important part of the planning process.
Indoor pickleball will continue to be offered at the Recreation Center on its regular schedule. Players who prefer the indoor game will not see any changes to current court times or programming. The new outdoor complex is an addition to what the city already provides, not a replacement.
Orange Beach Parks & Recreation encouraged the community to mark their calendars and come out for the big day. The May 7 event offers residents and visitors a first look at the new facility and a chance to try it out. Whether someone is a seasoned player or has never picked up a paddle, the grand opening is designed to be a welcoming experience for all.
