Orange Beach Kicks Off Five-Week Walking and Running Program this Monday
The free-to-join challenge runs for five weeks, starting April 6

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Orange Beach Parks and Recreation has launched a new community fitness challenge called 3 Miles Strong. The program is designed to encourage residents to stay active with a simple, self-paced format. It lasts for five weeks and welcomes walkers and runners of all skill levels. Participants who commit to the program can earn prizes and enter to win themed gift baskets.
The challenge officially kicks off on Monday, April 6. Registration is available online at
orangebeach.activityreg.com. Residents with questions about the program can call 251-981-2228.
The program works by having each participant first establish a personal baseline time for a three-mile workout. From there, they set their own goal and choose whichever trail or route works best for them. The key is staying consistent over the five-week period and tracking progress along the way.
To earn the completion prize, participants must complete at least 15 three-mile workouts within five weeks. They also need to demonstrate improvement compared to their initial baseline time. Those who fulfill both requirements will receive a program completion prize and be entered into a draw for one of the "3 Miles Strong" themed gift baskets.
The challenge provides a low-pressure way for community members to build a fitness habit at their own pace. There are no mandatory group events or fixed times to participate. Participants simply log their workouts and work toward their personal goal throughout the program.
