Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) –
As the cities of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores prepare to commemorate Memorial Day, municipal offices and many public facilities will be closed or operating on modified schedules this weekend, including Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th.
Memorial Day is a time to pause and honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces to protect our freedoms and democracy.
Below are the modified schedules for Orange Beach and Gulf Shores.
The City of Orange Beach made the following announcement:
In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, city offices and non-essential facilities will be closed on Monday, May 27th. Normal business operations will resume on Tuesday, May 28th. Trash and recycling will not be affected. All routes will run as normal.
The City of Orange Beach honors and remembers all the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect and preserve the freedoms we enjoy every day.
The City of Gulf Shores made the following announcement:
Memorial Day – A day to honor our veterans and those who have lost their lives
defending our freedom and democracy.
Please see the following City of Gulf Shores closures in honor of Memorial Day:
- Police, fire, and other emergency services will remain open to ensure public safety and health.
- Administrative offices for the City of Gulf Shores will be closed on Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, May 28, at 8 a.m.
- The Thomas B. Norton Public Library will be closed on Monday, May 27. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, May 28, at 10 a.m.
- The Gulf Shores Museum will be closed from Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27. Regular operation hours will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
- The Bodenhamer Recreation Center will remain open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 27.
- The Cultural Center will be closed on Monday, May 27. Regular operation hours will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
- The George C. Meyer Tennis Center will be closed on Monday, May 27. Courts will be open and available for public use. Regular operation hours will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
- The pickleball courts located at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex will remain open and available for public use.
- The City Store will be closed on Monday, May 27. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
- Republic Services Garbage and Recycling Services will run as scheduled. Yard debris/bulky pickup will run as scheduled.
- The Gulf Shores City Council Meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 28, at 4 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
