Gulf State Park Hosts First-Ever Nest Fest at Lake Shelby
Event celebrates shorebirds and coastal conservation with live music and food

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — Nature lovers, families, and birdwatchers are invited to a brand-new event celebrating wildlife and conservation. Nest Fest promises a fun, educational, and family-friendly day at the Lake Shelby picnic area in Gulf State Park. Guests can enjoy outdoor activities, explore local wildlife, and connect with others who care about nature. The event is free and open to the public.
The first-ever Nest Fest takes place on Saturday, May 31, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. No registration is required. The event highlights efforts to protect shorebirds and coastal habitats through hands-on exhibits and local partnerships.
Live music, tasty food, and interactive booths will be part of the experience. Organizations like the City of Orange Beach, Alabama Audubon, and Gulf State Park will share tips on conservation and bird protection. The day is designed to help visitors learn and have fun at the same time.
Nest Fest offers a chance to enjoy the outdoors and support environmental efforts in a relaxed setting. It’s a great way to bring the community together around a shared love of nature.
Those who want to keep exploring can visit the Alabama Coastal Birding Trails. The trails are great for birdwatchers and showcase various native species across coastal Alabama.
