Gulf Shores, Ala. - (OBA) - The City of Gulf Shores just announced the 2023 line up for the Summer Music at Meyer Park concert series. In a true celebration of music and community, the series presents free concerts at Meyer Park, located at 400 E 22nd Ave, beginning at 6 p.m. A range of bands and performers, each leaving their unique imprint on the music industry, will grace the stage, promising an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

June 21st marks the start of the concert series with 'Make Music Day at Meyer Park'. This special event, brought to you by the City of Gulf Shores Special Events Team together with the Frank Brown Songwriters Festival and the Flora-Bama, features the exceptional talents of Rhonda Hart and Smokey Otis. Audience participation is encouraged, with egg shakers and tambourines provided, in this high-energy communal music-making event.

Following in the lineup for July 20th is Molly Thomas and the Rare Birds, a group deeply rooted in the southern regions of Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee, with their profound and fluid lyrical content. The series concludes on August 17th with the versatile and emotional performance of Johnny Sansone, a musician who masterfully blends blues, boogie, and the authentic sounds of the Louisiana Bayou Country.

The lineup for our 2023 Music at Meyer Park concert series consists of the following bands:

• June 21 – Make Music Day at Meyer Park
  The City of Gulf Shores Special Events Team is partnering with the Frank Brown Songwriters Festival and the Flora-Bama to present Make Music Day at Meyer Park. Join us at Meyer Park for an incredible musical performance featuring Rhonda Hart and Smokey Otis. Attendees will be encouraged to participate in the musical action with egg shakers and tambourines provided by the City of Gulf Shores. As an added incentive to join us, Sassy Bass will be present giving away two ukuleles.
  
  
• July 20 – Molly Thomas and the Rare Birds
  Molly Thomas has always been a child of the water and metaphors of flow, movement, tidal change and bodily connection frequently surface in her lyrics. Born in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Thomas has made her home in and cultivated the majority of her musical influences from the southern regions of Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Thomas’ current album “Honey’s Fury” is her first with her touring band The Rare Birds.
  
  
• August 17 – Johnny Sansone
  Johnny Sansone is an American electric blues singer, songwriter, harmonicist, accordionist, guitarist, and piano player. Sansone began his musical career at the age of 8 and has been developing his skills ever since. Sansone led the life of an itinerant bluesman, traveling around the country from temporary bases in Colorado, Austin, Florida, and Chicago before settling down in New Orleans in 1990. Living in New Orleans brought a swamp rock tinge to his gruff vocals and emotional playing style. In his music, Sansone combines blues, boogie, and the front porch Cajun and Zydeco sounds of the Louisiana Bayou Country.

This rain or shine event has been meticulously planned to ensure a memorable summer of music. In case of rain, Big Beach Brewery is primed to serve as the backup location. A variety of food trucks will be on-site for those looking to purchase food, and beverages for all ages will be available from the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber.
