Foley Community Library Hosts Third Annual Big Rigs Touch-a-Truck Event
Free event features trucks, a petting zoo, and live music
Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — The Foley Community Library is bringing back one of its most popular family events for the third consecutive year. Children will have the chance to climb on, explore, and learn about large trucks and heavy equipment. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required to attend.
The Third Annual Big Rigs at the Library: A Touch-a-Truck Event is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. It will be held on the lawn of the Foley Recreation Department's Activity Center at 315 E. Jessamine Ave. The building sits behind Foley City Hall and occupies the site of the former Foley National Guard armory.
Kids will have the chance to get up close to a range of vehicles and equipment, including tractors, backhoes, and bucket trucks. The hands-on format lets children see the machines in person and learn how they are used in everyday community work.
Several city departments will display equipment at the event. Vehicles and rigs from the Foley Fire Department, Police Department, Public Works Department, and Street Department are expected to be part of the lineup.
The event will also feature a petting zoo from Maynard Family Farms. Kona Ice and ReNew Coffee Truck will be on-site, offering treats and drinks for purchase. Local musician Jesse Taylor Perry will return to perform live music throughout the morning.
Admission is free, and no registration is required. For more information, call the Foley Community Library at 251-943-7665 or visit the library's
