American Red Cross Encourages Foley Residents To Schedule Donation Appointments

Foley Community Invited To Give Blood At Civic Center

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Foley residents are being asked to roll up their sleeves and help save lives at an upcoming community blood drive. The American Red Cross will hold the event at the Foley Civic Center, and organizers hope many local donors will take part. They say every donation can make a difference for patients in need. Community members are encouraged to invite friends and family to join them at the drive.

The American Red Cross blood drive will take place on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, from 11:00am to 4:00pm at the Foley Civic Center. The drive is being promoted as a way for residents to support their neighbors during the holiday season. Organizers say the event is open to anyone who meets the basic eligibility guidelines for blood donation.

Potential donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance. Appointments can be made by visiting
www.RedCrossBlood.org and entering the sponsor keyword “foleycommunity” or by calling 800-733-2767. The Red Cross also asks donors to complete their RapidPass on the day of their donation to help speed up the process.

Event organizers note that holiday periods can be challenging for blood collections. “Seasonal times are a tricky maze. The holidays are hectic, and blood donations drop — but lives still depend on them,” the announcement states. The Red Cross hopes the Foley event will help steady the blood supply at a critical time.

To draw attention to the need, the American Red Cross is teaming up with the legendary video game character PAC-MAN to celebrate forty-five years of “chomping dots and saving lives.” As part of the promotion, those who come to give blood can receive a pair of PAC-MAN-themed socks while supplies last. The socks are meant as a fun thank you for donors who choose to participate.

Organizers are encouraging residents to “step up as Player One and guide your community to the ultimate high score saving lives.” The campaign frames donating blood as a way to play an important role this holiday season. “Those who come to give blood give a gift, get a gift. We need you!” the message adds.

The Foley drive also highlights the option of giving a Power Red donation. Information about Power Red donations is available through the American Red Cross website, where donors can learn whether this type of donation is right for them. Power Red donations allow eligible donors to give a concentrated dose of red blood cells, which can be especially helpful for some patients.

Residents are also reminded about the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. Through the app, donors can make appointments, complete RapidPass, and follow their blood to see when it is used. Organizers say the app offers “so much more” and can make the donation process easier and more convenient.

Community members are encouraged to “come, bring a friend, and go out for coffee afterward” as a simple way to turn the blood drive into a shared activity. The Red Cross and local organizers are thanking residents in advance for “giving the gift of life” and are extending holiday greetings to all who choose to participate.
