Mayor To Update Foley City Council and Citizens

Foley City Council

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – The Foley City Council will meet in a joint regular/work session on April 1 in council chambers at city hall. During the meeting, the council will discuss:

 

Adopting an ordinance setting the maximum axle limit for Kenny Stabler Avenue between South Juniper Street and East Pride Boulevard.

 

Declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the city.

 

Recognizing Kathleen Parker for her 45 years of service on the Foley Library Advisory Board.

 

An amendment to an ordinance to the health and safety code for the city.

 

The introduction of an ordinance to rezone about 10 acres owned by Grey Contracting located east of James Road and north of County Road 12 to single-family and duplex. At its March 20 meeting, the planning commission gave a unanimous favorable recommendation for the change. The council will also set a public hearing on the request.

 

The introduction of an ordinance adopting the Baldwin County 911 addressing and street name standards in the city for $6,431.


An ordinance to create a Library Board and a Library Advisory Board.

 

Approving the installation of two new gates at the Foley Municipal Airport for $35,200 to replace two that are in disrepair and are needed for security for hangars, aprons, buildings and long-term parking.

 

Purchasing two zero-turn mowers for the Street Department for $50,000.

 

Requesting proposals for the design and construction of new signs for the Foley Event Center.

 

Authorizing an economic development agreement between the city and Magnolia Holdings.

 

Authorizing an economic development agreement between the city and Octave Foley.

 

Purchasing shop supplies and other equipment for the new Public Works campus for $118,459.

 

Approving an addendum to a contract with Thompson Engineering for design work on the Foley Beach Express improvements for $50,000 raising the total for construction phase services to $380,000.

 

Paying a drug counselor for two years at the Dream Center.

 

Amending the pay classification plan for the police department.

 

Increasing the Police Department’s budget for small tools to buy decibel meters for $4,375.

 

Accepting costs of $3,827 to work on a dilapidated building at 311 W. Fifth Ave.

 

Approving the application for a Library Services and Technology grant for fiscal year 2025.

 

Authorizing the mayor to sign a purchase agreement with NEOGOV for HR services and equipment for three years for $29,320.

 

Taking over maintenance of parts of Angie Drive, Barin Field Road, Pettibone Lane, Rober Lane Drive and Sandy Ridge Road from Baldwin County.

 

Appointing Tyler Higginbotham as an alternate member of the Board of Adjustments and Appeals.

 

Applying for two Alabama Coastal Area Management Program grants to build a butterfly conservatory and for the development of an open space, greenways and trails plan for the city.

 

Approving the purchase of two Caterpillar generators for the new Public Works campus for $354,634.

 

Approving the site survey and design work for a new aquatics center.

 

Authorizing city workers to help with the 2024 Hot Air Balloon Festival put on by the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce on May 2-4 at OWA.

 

Approving a sponsorship for Foley Youth Football for 30 helmets for $3,750.

 

Closing the personal leave accrual for regular employees.

 

Increasing the budget for the Senior Center to buy a shuttle bus by $14,200 to cover the full cost of the bus.
