Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Anyone who’s been to Orange Beach City Hall over the last 20+ years knows Candy Martin. That smiling face and upbeat attitude couldn’t help but put anyone who meets her in a good mood. 

After more than two decades of exceptional service, Martin, a beloved figure at the front desk of Orange Beach City Hall, has retired.

Orange Beach, Mayor Tony Kennon and the City Council recognized Martin's contributions during last week’s council meeting, presenting her with a Certificate of Recognition.

"Candy has made my life so easy because she disarms everyone that's called, calls upset or wants something," Mayor Kennon said. "I really appreciate you and I'm going to miss you."

Councilwoman Annette Mitchell echoed these sentiments, praising Martin's hospitality and excellent customer service. "She takes care of all of our callers, all of our visitors and all of us," Mitchell said.

A retirement reception was held on Thursday evening at the Coastal Arts Center, where City Administrator Ford Handley presented Martin with a special plaque honoring her dedication and service.

Martin expressed her gratitude, stating, "It has been an honor and a pleasure to work for the City of Orange Beach."

Everyone in the city will undoubtedly miss Martin's warm presence and commitment to serving the community, but they wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.
