Academy of Country Music Has Nominated The Wharf Amphitheater

The Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Gulf Shores and Orange Beach residents as well as visitors have enjoyed The Wharf Amphitheater's entertainment and facilities for the past two decades. The concert venue has brought in Grammy Award winning singers from various genres, comedians and has been the host of many graduations for local schools.


The Academy of Country Music Awards has nominated The Wharf Amphitheater for Outdoor Venue Of The Year.


The 10,000-seat open-air venue that serves as the backdrop for dozens of top performers in country, hip hop and rock and roll. It is also one of the largest music venues along the Gulf Coast, according to their official website.

In a battle of top-ranked high school softball teams this past Friday night in Pace, Florida, the Orange Beach Makos shutout the Pace Patriots 2-0. The Makos' pitcher, Kaylee Favors, threw a dominant shutout, striking out 16 batters.

The Wharf announced on Monday that Dianna Moore, a senior at Gulf Shores High School, has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship. The Wharf is a popular shopping and entertainment destination in Orange Beach.

Foley Preparing Work to Transfer Beach Express to State

As Alabama prepares to buy the bridge at the southern end of the Foley Beach Express, city officials are continuing plans to improve the route before it becomes a state highway. The Alabama Department of Transportation has announced plans to buy the bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway in Orange Beach. State officials said the toll over the bridge will be eliminated when the purchase is completed.

On Sunday afternoon, April 28th, the Gulf Shores Police responded to a robbery at the Arby's located at 1515 Gulf Shores Parkway. The incident occurred at 3:33 PM, when a man threatened an employee with what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol. He demanded money and car keys.

UPDATE: Lauren Davidson Has been found. ----------------------------- Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – The Gulf Shores Police are actively searching for Lauren Davidson, a 58-year-old woman reported missing since yesterday morning, April 28th. Davidson was last seen around 5:12 AM near Bay John Condominiums at 4297 County Road 6.
