Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) —  The 53rd Annual National Shrimp Festival is coming to Gulf Shores this fall, and organizers say the four-day event is shaping up to be one of the most community-focused in its history. The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber runs the festival, with support from hundreds of local volunteers. This year's event will feature a food lineup made entirely of domestic seafood, a commitment festival organizers made to better support local suppliers. Admission to the festival grounds is free.

The festival runs from October 8 through October 11, 2026, at 101 Gulf Shores Pkwy — the intersection of Highway 59 and East Beach Boulevard. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year's event marks more than 50 years since the festival first took root on the Alabama Gulf Coast. According to myshrimpfest.com, the festival draws nearly 250,000 visitors over its four-day run.

Two entertainment stages will run throughout the weekend, featuring country, classic rock, jazz, and other genres. Attendees can also browse art and shopping vendors showcasing paintings, sculpture, jewelry, and handmade crafts. (See music schedule below.)

The festival also features a 5K/10K run and walk, a sand sculpture contest, a Children's Activity Village, a bike valet, and the Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant.



Gulf Shores City Council highlighted the event during its regular meeting on September 28, 2026, when council members encouraged residents to get involved. Officials called it one of the city's most significant annual initiatives.

Food vendors will serve shrimp prepared in various ways, along with other seafood and non-seafood options. The festival's food chairman confirmed that all seafood served this year will be locally sourced and domestic.
