Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — An armed robbery call on May 27 led Foley police to a major investigation involving several agencies. Officers responded to Keil Trail off Dailey Lane around 6:50 p.m. after victims reported being held at gunpoint. Two firearms were stolen during the robbery. Police launched a search for the suspects immediately after arriving.

By the end of the night, officers arrested 26-year-old Kyle Welch of Texas. He was found hiding under an RV with the help of a Foley Police Department K9 unit. Gulf Shores Police later found three guns under the same RV. One of those weapons had been reported stolen. Officers also found a bag with three grams of meth.

Two days later, on May 29, Foley Police arrested the second suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile. Both Welch and the juvenile are being charged with first-degree robbery, a Class A felony. Welch also faces a Class D felony for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation continued with a search warrant on George Younce Road. That search led to three more arrests. Police charged Kahmiya Amoni Thomas, 18, and Abel Alejandro Gamez, 18, with second-degree marijuana possession. Gamez also faces a charge for possession of a firearm with an altered ID.

Cody Dewayne Barnett, 34, was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Foley Police say more charges may be coming. Authorities credit teamwork among Foley officers, Gulf Shores Police, and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office for the success of the case.
