20-Year Sentence for Drunk Driving Crash That Killed Officer

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Tyler Henderson from Orange Beach has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in a drunk driving crash that killed Mt. Vernon Police Officer Ivan Lopez. Henderson, 33, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
The crash happened in August 2022. Henderson ran a stop sign at County Road 36 and Highway 59 in Summerdale. His blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit. He collided with Lopez's police cruiser.
Officer Lopez died instantly in the crash. A passenger in Henderson's truck was also injured. Initially, Henderson faced murder charges.

Students and families across the region are preparing to celebrate the end of one chapter and the start of another. Over 200 of the 223 seats have already been claimed by sponsors. Reserved gym seating for basketball and volleyball is also going fast.

Supported by the City of Orange Beach and Mayor Tony Kennon, the league offers full-contact football for ages 10 to 13 and a developmental program for kids ages 8 and 9. Cheerleading is also available for children ages 9 to 12. The league aims to provide a fun and competitive environment for young athletes to learn the fundamentals of football and develop their skills.
