Orange Beach Makos Softball Holds Firm As Nation's Top-Ranked Team
Orange Beach beats McCracken County Monday night, 13-3, to stay undefeated
Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — The Orange Beach Makos varsity girls softball team is still the best in the country. The Makos stayed undefeated Monday night with a 13-3 victory over McCracken County. They now have a season record of 26-0. MaxPreps, the CBS Sports-owned platform for high school sports, ranks them No. 1 in the nation.
The Makos secured another win last Friday, defeating Blackman 10-0. Along with their national ranking, they lead the Alabama 4A Division standings. Coach Shane Alexander and his staff are guiding the team toward a sixth consecutive state title.

The team's stats are hard to overlook. Orange Beach has a .392 team batting average, with 236 runs and 41 home runs this season. Several players are posting impressive individual numbers across the board.
Sophomore pitcher MK McMullan leads the state with an ERA of just 0.16. MaxPreps writer Thomas Frey noted in a national column that "No. 1 Orange Beach is led in the circle by sophomore M.K. McMullan, who checks in at No. 3 on the national list."
Several other Makos are leading the team's offensive push. Katie King leads the squad with a .521 batting average, 37 hits, and 14 stolen bases. Teagan Revette leads with 10 home runs and a 1.082 slugging percentage, while Ava Hodo has driven in 36 runs and holds a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
