Jamie Dubose, Orange Beach's Head Football Coach, Announces Retirement

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – In a meeting with players today, Coach Jamie Dubose announced his intent to retire from his current position as Orange Beach High School’s Varsity Football Head Coach. Coach Dubose has a lifetime record of 167 and 56, a 75% win rate. Coach Dubose has won three state championships as a head coach and finished runner-up twice. In 2022, he led the Makos to a 7-3 record as the school hosted its first-ever playoff game.


Orange Beach City Schools appreciates Coach Jamie Dubose and his efforts. He has demonstrated and emphasized character above all else. He has worked closely with parents and has successfully mentored present and past students and colleagues. His drive and determination are extraordinary, as is his knowledge of the game, organization of practice, and ability to motivate. Coach Dubose is a winner! He will always be welcome on the Mako sidelines and in our schools.


Coach Dubose will continue with off-season workouts and assist with the transition.

The search for a new head coach will begin Monday, November 20, 2023. The application deadline is December 10; however, if a successor is not determined, applications will remain open until the position is filled. Coordinator experience is required, and successful head football coaching experience is preferred. All certifications will be considered.
