Gulf Shores, Ala. - (OBA) - The annual Hurricane Preparedness Expo will take place in Gulf Shores, Alabama, on Wednesday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering residents the chance to learn about valuable resources and services to help them stay safe during storm season. The free event will be held at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center, located at 1930 West 2nd Street.
Brandan Franklin, Gulf Shores Emergency Management Coordinator, explained that the expo is designed as a "one-stop-shop" for individuals to learn about available resources and products to protect their families and properties. Several federal, state, and local agencies, as well as local businesses specializing in storm products and services, will be featured at the event.
Among the vendors attending the expo are Baldwin EMC, Folkers Windows, Island Enclosures, Riviera Utilities, Paris Ace Hardware, Disaster Smart, Gulf Shores Utilities, Alabama Small Business Development Center, American Red Cross, Crowder Gulf, and others. Additionally, WKRG News 5 Alert Team's Meteorologist John Nodar and Chief Meteorologist Ed Bloodsworth will be present and give a special presentation at 12 p.m.
City of Gulf Shores departments will be on hand to answer questions, and residents who need to update their 2023-2024 Hurricane Decal can do so at the event. To obtain a decal, bring proof of residency or property ownership (deed, lease, or utility bill) with the street address of the property for which the decal is being purchased, along with a driver's license for identification purposes.
