Gulf Shores Planners Set to Vote on Bright’s Creek Delay

Annexation and overlay rules are also on the agenda
Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – Developers seeking to extend the preliminary subdivision plat for the Village at Bright’s Creek are facing a denial in front of the Gulf Shores Planning Commission. The parcel is at Oak Road West and Sanderson Lane. Plans are to place 76 single-family homes on the 43.85-acre parcel. After failing several Engineering Department inspections at the site and changes in subdivision regulations, staff will recommend denying the extension.
The commission will meet Aug. 26 at 4 p.m. in council chambers at city hall.
During the meeting, the commission will also discuss:
- A request to annex a vacant lot at 4199 County Road 6 on the Bon Secour River. The applicants seek a pre-zoning of the property to neighborhood business and staff will recommend approval with conditions.
- Recommending no changes to the Plash Island/Bon Secour River overlay district to avoid increasing the number of dwelling units in the area.
- A request for preliminary subdivision plat approval to subdivide 1.6 acres into five lots on Miller Memorial Road. Staff will recommend approval with conditions.
