Gulf Shores, Alabama, is home to two other esteemed establishments that made Southern Living's 2025 list: The Hangout and Pink Pony Pub.

The Hangout secured the fourth spot, celebrated for its expansive 3-acre venue offering direct beach access, live music, fire pits, and outdoor games. Each spring, it hosts a popular music festival, drawing crowds for both its entertainment and relaxed beachside ambiance.


Pink Pony Pub, ranked ninth, is unmistakable with its vibrant bubblegum-pink exterior adorned with a whimsical pony mural. Established in 1956, this iconic spot has long been a favorite among spring breakers and locals alike. Beyond its lively atmosphere, the pub offers an extensive menu featuring steaks, salads, and crab claws, making it a staple in the Gulf Shores dining scene.


Behind the Rankings: Southern Living's Methodology

The rankings for "The South's Best Beach Bars 2025" were determined through an online survey conducted by Proof Insights, a third-party agency, on behalf of Southern Living. The survey, held from July 10 to August 21, 2024, garnered responses from over 10,000 Southern Living consumers. Participants were asked to rate their favorite beach bars across the South, resulting in a comprehensive list that reflects the preferences of the magazine's readership.
