Disney's Newsies Jr. Comes to Life at Orange Beach Performing Arts Center

Orange Beach, Ala. - (OBA) - Disney's Newsies Jr. is a youth-friendly adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Disney's Newsies, which was itself inspired by the 1992 Disney film of the same name. The story is based on the real-life events of the 1899 Newsboys Strike in New York City. It follows the journey of a group of young newsboys who band together and fight against the unfair practices of powerful newspaper publishers.


The junior version of the musical has been shortened and modified to cater to younger performers and audiences, making it more suitable for school and community theater productions. With its spirited songs, high-energy dancing, and inspirational themes of social justice and friendship, Disney's Newsies Jr. is an entertaining and engaging experience for the entire family.


The Orange Beach Performing Arts Center is set to host a captivating performance of Disney's Newsies Jr., brought to life by the Orange Beach Conservatory of Fine Arts. The stage adaptation of the beloved Disney musical will run from April 28th through April 30th, with showtimes at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

Perdido Key, Fla. – (OBA) – A mix of green and loggerhead sea turtles, ranging from juveniles to adults, were released Wednesday morning into the Gulf of Mexico after being rehabilitated. The turtles had been accidentally hooked by fishermen off local fishing piers and were treated at the Gulfarium's CARE Center in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Ryan Shamburger, general manager of Big Beach Brewing and a resident of the neighborhood framed by East Second Street and Canal Road, said several of the residents approached him with questions about the bridge. He asked for an update on the construction.

Gulfarium to Release Rehabilitated Sea Turtles at Perdido Key

Perdido Key, Fla. – (OBA) – The Gulfarium CARE Center will be releasing several rehabilitated sea turtles back into the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, May 15th, at Perdido Key Public Beach Access #4. The event will begin at 11am and is expected to last about 10–15 minutes, weather permitting. In the case of inclement weather, such as storms or lightning, the release will be rescheduled.
