(OBA®) - Orange Beach, AL - During the Orange Beach City Council meeting on September 21, 2021, new Orange Beach Municipal Judge Christopher Callaghan was sworn in by current Municipal Judge Julian B. "Buddy" Brackin, who will be retiring this year after 31 years of service to the city.

Callaghan was appointed the third-ever municipal judge at the September 7th council meeting. The term is for two years and then he will need to be reappointed by the council. 

Callaghan was born in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Lassiter High School. Upon his graduation from High School, he graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Criminal Justice. He went on to attend John Marshall Law School, where he graduated at the top of his class. Prior to entering law school, Callaghan spent 15 years in law enforcement, serving as a police officer and detective. Those experiences helped instill a lifelong commitment to fairness and justice.

He is married to Cathy, and the couple have three children. The family attends Cottage Hill Baptist Church and resides in Mobile. Callaghan is active in the Mobile County Republican Party.

Callaghan is also the Municipal Judge in Jackson, Alabama and has served from 2018 to present, and also sits as a special Mobile County District Court Judge.
