August 16, 2019 – Orange Beach, AL – (OBA®) – There will be a Kenny Smith Memorial Fundraiser at the Undertow on Aug. 25 to help the family with expenses related to his health care. Kenny passed away at home On Aug. 16 surrounded by family and friends.

Fish and chicken tender plates with sides will be on sale for $10. The event is being hosted by Teresa Smith’s co-workers from Doc’s Seafood Shack and Oyster Bar at the Undertow on Canal Road at 6 p.m.

“He and Teresa are both well-loved and well-known on the island and we are asking the community to come forward and help ease some of the pressure of a difficult time,” Doc’s co-worker Susan Anderson said.

Kenny and Teresa had many friends in the community for a number of years and he worked as a charter captain, deckhand, condo maintenance manager, bartender and was great in the kitchen, on the grill or fish fryer and loved to cook with his wife Teresa.

He liked playing video poker with his pals at the Undertow and visiting around town just about every day when he was able. For the past year, he has been battling a variety of ailments.

He and Teresa’s extended family, the Doc’s Seafood Shack and Oyster Bar family, are arranging to get the food and cooking it for the fundraiser.

Additionally, Teresa will remain on the schedule to work her three weekly shifts and other servers will volunteer, work the shift and give the proceeds from the shift to Teresa.
