Gulf Shores, Ala. - (OBA) - Gulf State Park's Learning Campus just announce its role as the kickoff location for the 2023 edition of the 100 Alabama Miles Challenge. This year-long initiative encourages Alabamians to explore the great outdoors by walking, running, hiking, biking, swimming, paddling, riding, or rolling through parks, nature preserves, and rivers with family and friends.
The kickoff event takes place on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 9:00 am, with a fun, family-friendly leisure walk for all ages. Participants will be led from the Learning Campus to the bald eagles' nest on Lakeview Trail before returning to the campus for the start of the Earth Day event. Free program logo t-shirts and decals will be provided while supplies last.
Registration for the 100 Alabama Miles Challenge is available at www.100alabamamiles.org. By logging their miles throughout the year, participants will earn electronic badges for milestones reached and locations visited. The Strava app and mobile devices can be used to automatically track miles and participate in the challenge.
As participants explore Alabama's beautiful outdoors, they are encouraged to share their photos and stories on social media using the hashtag #100ALMiles. This year's challenge is an excellent opportunity to bond with family and friends while discovering the natural wonders of Alabama.
