Experience the Funnest Fishing Tournament at Flora-Bama's Annual Rodeo

Orange Beach, Ala. - (OBA) - The Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo is a unique fishing tournament that prides itself on being accessible to everyone, regardless of their fishing experience or status. The tournament, often referred to as the "Every Man's" fishing rodeo, is a testament to the inclusive spirit of the Flora-Bama Lounge, where everyone is welcome to participate.


The 10th Annual Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo

Scheduled to take place from June 9-11, 2023, the 10th Annual Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo promises to be the "funnest" fishing tournament on the Gulf Coast. The categories for the tournament are diverse, ranging from catfish to billfish, and even includes a spearfishing category. The tournament organizers also hinted at a potential competition for catching the biggest crab.


The tournament is not just about fishing; it's also about having a great time with family and friends. Participants can look forward to top-of-the-line prizes, making the event even more exciting.


Event Details

The tournament will be held at the Flora-Bama Ole River Grill beach area, across the street from the World Famous Flora-Bama Lounge. The Fishing Rodeo is a 3-day Captain's Choice tournament with anglers competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in 30 categories, including red snapper.


The tournament will be accompanied by a three-day beach party and awards ceremony. The party will feature daily weigh-ins with a fish viewing area, live music, great food, vendor booths, and hospitality done in true Flora-Bama fashion.


Registration and Schedule

Interested participants can register online at florabama.catchstat.com. The tournament is divided into two divisions: the kids’ division and the adults' division. Kids may compete in the adults' division by purchasing an adult ticket, but adults may not compete in the kids' division.


The official schedule of the rodeo includes a Facebook Live virtual captain's meeting on June 9th at 6 PM. The rodeo opens on Friday, June 9th, 2023, at 12 AM CT and closes on Saturday, June 10th, 2023, at 7 PM CT. The weigh-in stations will be open on both days from 2 to 7 PM at the Ole River Grill Beach Area. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 11th, 2023, at 11 AM at the Flora-Bama Yacht Club Stage.


Fishing Locations and Weigh-In

Participants are not required to sign out from any specific location. They may begin fishing at 12:00 am on Friday, June 9th. Fish may be caught from any location between Cape San Blas, FL, and the TX/LA border. The weigh-in will take place next to the Flora-Bama Ole River Grill on the Beach Area.


The Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo is more than just a fishing tournament; it's a celebration of the joy of fishing and the camaraderie it fosters. So, whether you're an experienced angler or a novice, grab your fishing gear and join the fun!

Gulf Shores is making moves to start on phase two of the project adding a third southbound lane on State Route 59. Phase two of the project will be adding the lane from Cypress Bend Drive or the Target intersection to just north of County Road 6. To make this happen water and sewer mains will have to be moved from West 34th Avenue to County Road six. The portion from Cypress Bend Drive south to Fort Morgan Road has already been bid out.
