Rural no more: Baldwin County now fifth in population – al.com

The latest round of census estimates shows that Baldwin County’s accelerating population growth has pushed it into Alabama’s Top Five. Growth in Baldwin County is a familiar theme, but even so the latest figures are eye-opening. Baldwin saw the fastest one-year growth in both raw numbers (5,403 to Madison’s 4,854) and percentage (2.5% to Limestone County’s 2.2%). That’s according to 2018 Census estimates released today for all U.S. counties.

Bill to require Baldwin Co., Gulf Shores schools to be notified of development | WPMI

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) - — A bill drafted by Baldwin County State Senator Chris Elliott that would require the superintendents of the Baldwin and Gulf Shores school systems to be notified of any new housing development with 100 units or more, was given a thumbs up today by the State Senate.

Orange Beach to develop north end of Powerline Road

The City of Orange Beach is moving forward with plans to pave a small portion the north end of Powerline Road as soon as a lawsuit over the acquisition of the land is settled in court. “The question now becomes what is the value of the land in the court and hopefully it will be resolved in about 30 days,” City Administrator Ken Grimes said.

RV resort sells for big bucks – al.com

Local investors paid $3.075 million for Sugar Sands RV Resort at 5343 Roscoe Road in Gulf Shores, according to court records. Erin Kaiser of Kaiser Sotheby’s International Realty handled the transaction. The RV resort on almost 11 acres features 63 sites, a bath house, a 5,000-square-foot rec house with a full kitchen, six roll-up doors and a resort-style zero entry pool.

Dollar General coming to East Orange Beach?

February 28, 2019 – Orange Beach, AL (OBA®) – If history is much of a teacher – and very recent history – then Orange Beach is about to get its fourth Dollar General store and the second on Canal Road. “They don’t label it as a Dollar General,” Orange Beach Director of Community Development Kit Alexander said. “It’s a retail store by the Broadway Group.”

New bar at The Wharf; more beach condos on the way | AL.com

Presales are under way and work is expected to begin in March on Sea Glass condominiums, a 51-unit Gulf-front complex on West Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores, across from Pier 33, according to local developers. Cunningham Head LLC is the developer and Bob Shallow of REMAX Paradise is marketing the project. More than half of the units have presold at prices starting in the $300s.
