South Alabama Mega Site to get multi-million dollar facelift | fox10tv.com

The South Alabama Mega Site in Baldwin County is about to get a facelift thanks to a new state law.The law allows companies and individuals to get a dollar-for-dollar tax credit when they fund projects designed to stimulate economic development. The Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance (EDA) will spend $5 million dollars on site enhancements.

(WKRG) The Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance is the new owner of three thousand nine-acre Mega-site north of Bay Minette after the county commission transferred ownership at a special call commission meeting Thursday morning. For the last seven years, the county has courted major industry’s hoping would bring new jobs and new prosperity to the northern part of the county but so far, no takers.

‘Close Encounters’ house in Fairhope offered for lease – al.com

Nothing in the listing mentions that the house for lease on Alabama Highway 181 in Fairhope was once featured in an iconic movie from the 1970s. But anyone who’s seen Steven Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” which was filmed in Mobile, Fairhope and Bay Minette in the summer of 1976, will recognize it as the home of single mom Jillian Guiler, played by Melinda Dillon, and her son Barry, played by Cary Guffey.

A Boca Raton-based real estate group paid $825,000 for Happy Acres Mobile Home Park on 7.5 acres on U.S. 98 in Elberta, near Baldwin County 95, according to Alla Nikitina of Hosteeva Realty, who represented the buyer. Renea Beasley of Sperry CGA The Andrews Group, worked for the seller. The city of Orange Beach plans to purchase 18.9 acres at the intersection of Roscoe and Russian roads off the Foley Beach Express in Orange Beach, for $850,000, according to city records. The land will be used to relocate the city’s Public Works department. The property is owned by God Is Bidden Properties LLC..

Orange Beach council considering 677 new housing units

June 21, 2019 – Orange Beach, AL (OBA®) – Growth and potential growth is alive and kicking in Orange Beach. During city council regular and work sessions on June 18, the council heard ordinances for developments that could add 677 houses, cottages, and condo units combined. And Brett Robinson already has the go-ahead on Phoenix Gulf Towers and is doing foundation work on that project. It would bring 192 units to Orange Beach on the west end of town between Palm Beach and Sugar Sands developments. At the east end of town Brett Robinson’s Phoenix Orange Beach II, a 120-unit project, is nearing completion on the Gulf between the Island House Hotel on the west and Tidewater condos.

New condo project under way in Gulf Shores – al.com

Construction is under way on Sea Glass, a 51-unit condominium project on 200 front feet on the Gulf on West Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores. So far 15 of the 21 units in the first phase have presold, according to Bob Shallow of REMAX Paradise, who is marketing the complex. The local developers are David Head Jr., and Robert Cunningham. The one- and two-bedroom units will be built to gold fortified construction standards. The second phase will have 30 units.
