ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WALA) -- A Robertsdale teen who beat cancer is set to take the trip of a lifetime. "Make a Wish" and the Alabama Independent Auto Dealers Associations Ladies Auxiliary granting 19-year-old Keaton Krebs and his family a trip to Germany. They made the presentation at the AIADA's 50 annual convention at Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach.

2-year-old falls 12 feet off porch in Fort Morgan – WKRG

July 19, 2019
FORT MORGAN, Ala. (WKRG) — A 2-year-old fell 12 feet off a porch at a beach house in Fort Morgan Thursday evening. Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire says units were called to a home on Buchanan Court around 6:24 p.m. The 2-year-old fell from the porch of the elevated beach house. The child was taken to a hospital in Mobile for treatment.

Man killed in Orange Beach crash remembered as friendly fisherman – WKRG

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) —  A man from Baldwin County is dead after crashing into an Orange Beach Police cruiser late Tuesday night.  Friends and family are mourning the loss of a beloved local fisherman.  For the many regulars that come to the Gulf State Park Pier, this is a huge loss. The Facebook group, GS Pier Rats, has tributes pouring in for the young man.

Baldwin County veteran living with service dog in car raising awareness for homeless vets | WPMI

BAY MINETTE, ALA. (WPMI) — A Baldwin County woman is raising awareness for veterans like herself; homeless, jobless, and struggling with disabilities. Mary Ann Nichols, a Navy veteran, said she and her service dog Buddy have been living inside her 15-year-old Chevy Trailblazer for months.

New World Pull-Ups Record attempted by Baldwin Co. man | fox10tv.com

A Baldwin County man strapped on 60 pounds in an attempt to break the world record for pull-ups with that weight. Johnathan Young set a new world pull-ups record a year and a half ago with a hundred pounds strapped on his back at 17 in one minute. This attempt was staged at Anytime Fitness in Foley with friends and family to cheer him on. The record to break was 26 pull-ups in one minute with 60 pounds on his back. Young was able to muster 23 pull-ups while taking two short breaks, finishing just a few short. Despite that, Young says he’s determined to make a comeback.

That’s something his mother, Nicole, still can’t wrap her mind around, more than a year after his death. He wasn’t supposed to be swimming. He wasn’t supposed to be in the pool. He was dressed in khaki shorts, not a swimsuit.

Chamber programs seeking perks for island teachers

July 2, 2019 – Orange Beach, AL – (OBA®) – Two groups at the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber are pooling their resources to offer teachers on the island discounts at local businesses. “We have 8 different councils here at the Chamber that focus on different areas of our community,” the Chamber’s Penny Hughey said. “Two of the councils that I’m responsible for are the Small Business Council and the Education Council. Both of those groups came together and decided we wanted to work on something we can do to show our teachers in the area how much we appreciate all that they do for the kids in our communities.”

July 1, 2019 – Orange Beach, AL – (OBA®) – This year’s Alabama Press Association convention at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach saw a former local reporter win six awards and sweep the Public Service Awards in one category.Cliff McCollum, the current Baldwin County Legislative Delegation Constituent Services Director and former journalist swept the Best Public Service award category at this year’s Alabama Press Association Media Awards on June 29.
