Bill to require Baldwin Co., Gulf Shores schools to be notified of development | WPMI

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) - — A bill drafted by Baldwin County State Senator Chris Elliott that would require the superintendents of the Baldwin and Gulf Shores school systems to be notified of any new housing development with 100 units or more, was given a thumbs up today by the State Senate.

Spring breakers enjoy the calm before the storms | fox10tv.com

Spring breakers from Mobile and Baldwin counties were taking advantage of one of the last nice beach days before Easter on Wednesday. Plenty of folks went to Cotton Bayou Public Beach in Orange Beach to enjoy the calm before the storms.

Motorcyclist airlifted following crash involving City of Gulf Shores truck

GULF SHORES, Ala. (WKRG) -- A motorcyclist has been airlifted following a crash involving a City of Gulf Shores truck. The crash happened around 2 p.m. near the intersection of Fort Morgan Road and Callaway Road. The driver of the city truck was not hurt in the crash. Police have not identified anyone involved in the crash.

Gulf Shores makes changes to cell tower regulations | GulfCoastNewsToday.com

The Gulf Shores City Council recently amended its Code of Ordinances to allow for small cell tower facilities, something which should allow for better cell reception throughout the city. Planning Director Andy Bauer said the city didn’t previously have anything on the books to even allow for such facilities.

Gulf Shores, AL – Youth PHINMAN Triathlon

The City of Gulf Shores and Gulf Shores Swim Team is excited to announce the upcoming Youth Phinman Triathlon scheduled for Saturday, May 25, at the David L. Bodenhamer Recreation Center. The Phinman Triathlon will consist of two separate races and age groups: PhinmanXL and PhinmanJR. The PhinmanXL is open to children ages 10-14. This race will consist of a 100 yard swim, 2.8 mile bike ride and 0.83 mile run.

Gulf Shores seeks grant to further Little Lagoon Pass Park upgrades | GulfCoastNewsToday.com

After a round of upgrades to Little Lagoon Pass Park, the City of Gulf Shores is looking for additional grant funding for more improvements. At its most recent work session, the Gulf Shores City Council heard from Grants Coordinator Dan Bond about an opportunity to nab $50,000 in grant funding for the park. The grant money would be used for construction of additional public access improvements. The grant requires a 1 to 1 match with a maximum grant award of $50,000 which would require a match of $50,000.
