Crowds brave the cold at Fairhope

FAIRHOPE, Ala (WKRG) -- Saturday's cold weather didn't stop people from going to the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival.  Shoppers put on their  sweaters and jackets and enjoyed seeing art from around the country. The artists say they were fine with the cold and were glad they stayed dry Saturday. The festival runs Sunday from 10-5 as well.

Fairhope “hot spot” for foxes experts say |

Fairhope Police now have a new protocol in place in the event of a fox attack. This comes after police shot and then disposed of a fox after it attacked a woman Tuesday night, March 12, 2019. Because it happened after hours, the Baldwin County Health Department couldn’t be reached to have the animal immediately tested for rabies.

Fairhope City Council considers 3 mill tax |

March 12, 2019
Fairhope City Council has unanimously approved a resolution endorsing the effort to have a referendum on a 3 mill tax. City Council says the 3 mills could mean nearly 2 million more dollars a year for Fairhope’s five schools. Its estimated the tax would add about $90 a year for homeowners in the district, which is about $7.50 a month based on an average home value of $300,000.

Vigil Sunday for man killed by BCSO in standoff

March 10, 2019
Fairhope, Ala. (WKRG) -- Family and friends gather later today to pay tribute to a man killed in a standoff with deputies nearly one year ago.  A vigil is being held starting at 6:30 on US Highway 98 in Fairhope honoring the memory of Robert Yates Jr.  Yates died on March 5th of last year.  Authorities say Yates shot at deputies during a standoff over eviction and deputies returned fire killing the man.

GoFundMe created for Fairhope mother killed in fire

March 10, 2019

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) -- 41-year-old Delia Leigh Cook, one of the two people injured in a mobile home fire in Fairhope, died of her injuries Friday. She leaves behind three children.  A GoFundMe page has been set up to help family cover funeral costs and other expenses. Any leftover money will be put into a trust for the children’s future needs and education.
