Robertsdale, Ala. – (OBA) – In a move that bolsters the Baldwin County 911 Center's leadership and operational capabilities, the Board, chaired by David Wilson, has appointed Kristi Stamnes as the new Director. Bringing an extensive background in public safety and emergency response leadership, Stamnes is poised to take the helm at the center. With the recent restructuring to include two Deputy Directors, the center is set to tackle the challenges of unprecedented growth in the county. Stamnes's appointment is seen as a strategic step in ensuring excellence in customer service and fostering the development of future leaders within the organization.

Gulf Shores City Schools and the City of Gulf Shores kicked off construction of the new Gulf Shores High School with a groundbreaking ceremony on April 26. The event was attended by city and school leaders, community members, students, and the project team. The new high school is viewed as a key development in the area's educational facilities.

Matt Young with Alabama State Parks says the target date for the completion of Gulf State Park’s pier is still on schedule to be finished by the end of summer. It was damaged by Hurricane Sally on Sept. 16, 2020. Young is the Southwest District Superintendent and covers Gulf State Park, Meaher State Park in Mobile and Roland Cooper State Park near Camden.
The best gymnasts in the Southeast are returning for Foley for the 2024 Region 8 Level 6/7/8 Regional Championships April 26 – 28 and planners say it’s the city’s track record of successful events that has them returning.
Four new sidewalk projects will help connect walkways through Foley and improve pedestrian connectivity.
The projects will provide improved access to Foley High School, Mathis Elementary School, Foley Elementary School and Alabama 59.
Orange Beach City Schools just announced that fifteen talented student musicians have been selected to perform live on stage with the iconic rock band Foreigner during their farewell tour. The event will take place on August 16th, 2024, at during the Foreigner concert at The Wharf in Orange Beach. Styx will also be performing that night at the Wharf.
Orange Beach has been named one of the top 10 winners of the 2024 USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice award for Best Small Town Food Scene.

The 28th Annual Orange Beach Billfish Classic (OBBC) will be held from May 14-19, 2024 at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama.
This prestigious tournament is the start of the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Series and is committed to sustainable billfishing, donating over $730,000 to the Billfish Foundation and other conservation entities over the years.
The Gulf Shores City Council met in a regular session in council chambers at city hall on April 22 including approving $2.9 million in expense vouchers including $2.2 million most going for the Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism and Sustainability, Waterway East Boulevard extension and the widening of State Route 59 project. The city also bought a zero-turn mower for $51,000 and operational expenses totaled $687,000.
The Foley Art Center is gearing up for the 52nd annual "Art in the Park" event, set to take place, as always, on Mother's Day weekend. Mother’s Day is 3 weeks from today, falling on May 12th. The Art in the Park event takes place May 11th-12th.
