Friday, April 26th -
Discover the unique Heritage Park Marketplace showcasing a diverse range of arts and crafts, including hand-painted pottery, woven baskets, and artisanal cheeses, as well as fresh farm produce, plants, and gift items. The market starts at 4 PM with entertainment live on the stage from Doc Johnson starting at 6 PM. Immediately followed by the 2023 new Disney movie “The Little Mermaid” at dusk. Saturday, April 27th -
Get ready for the fish to fly at the Interstate Mullet Toss & Gulf Coast's Greatest Beach Party, a legendary event where people come together for a full weekend and compete in a unique way. The party started as a simple reason to celebrate, but has grown into one of the biggest beach parties on the Gulf Coast. The highlight of the event is the Mullet Toss, where participants throw a dead mullet over the state line from a ten-foot circle in Florida across the line into Alabama to see who can get the farthest. The atmosphere is lively, and the energy is infectious. The renowned event entices people from all over the world to travel to the Flora-Bama to experience the excitement and make memories that will last a lifetime. The event will be from Friday, April 26th- Sunday, April 28th. Flora-Bama announces that proceeds from  every mullet that is tossed will go to Local Youth Charities, including local schools’ education and prevention programs and more, with over $40,000 each year being contributed to local charities. Vehicle Plunges into Water in Fatal Gulf Shores Crash

A tragic traffic incident claimed the life of a driver in Gulf Shores early this morning. The accident occurred around 1:24 AM near Tacky Jacks, at the intersection of East Canal Drive and East Second Street. Authorities reported that the vehicle was heading west on East Canal Drive when it breached the guard rail and plunged into the water below. The driver was declared deceased at the scene.

The support of Alabama coastal residents is needed to raise awareness and educate our visitors to Keep Light’s Out for turtles. The sea turtle nesting season is May through October. Nesting occurs on the beaches from Fort Morgan to Orange Beach and the Florida Panhandle.

Recreational Red Grouper Fishing in Gulf of Mexico Pauses in July

Starting from July 1, 2024, at 12:01 am local time, recreational fishing for red grouper in the federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico will be prohibited. This closure, extending through the end of the year, is enforced by NOAA Fisheries due to the expected meeting of the annual catch target of 1,840,000 pounds gutted weight by June 30, 2024.

In a battle of top-ranked high school softball teams this past Friday night in Pace, Florida, the Orange Beach Makos shutout the Pace Patriots 2-0. The Makos' pitcher, Kaylee Favors, threw a dominant shutout, striking out 16 batters.
