Easter Week Things To Do

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – It’s all cotton tails and bunny trails this week on the Gulf Coast. From exciting golden egg prize adventures to Easter bonnets and Easter photos boat-style we've got some excellent options to choose from. Test your rock climbing skills, or surfing balance at the Wharf egg race and enjoy live music from one beach to the next. 


Monday, March 25th -
Count your steps this week while keeping your eye on the prize. Registration for the Gulf State Park’s Golden Eggstravaganza Grand Prize Raffle opens today. Nominated for ‘Best Recreational Trail’ for the second year, Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail alone is enough prize for most. For one week, hidden all throughout the boundaries of the park, pre-filled golden eggs will be spread around for treasure exchanges. Take a walk, rent a bike and hit the trails to seek out your prize. Once a golden egg is located, seekers will take a photo with their egg to send in before claiming the prize. Each egg comes with special instructions. The treasured prizes range from park merchandise, camping and a grand prize of a two-night stay at the Lodge with perks. Be a part of park preservation, bring friends, family and children out to enjoy the beauty in nature, instilling generational love for the natural, minding the old saying “don’t kill the goose that lays the golden egg.” Start your egg adventure at any trail head in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Tuesday, March 26th -
Word on the streets is that Little Readers Story time at Orange Beach Public Library will have a visit from the Easter Bunny. This week, after a special Easter themed story time filled with crafts and games little readers will have a chance for a different kind of fill. Bring your baskets and eggcellent hunting eyes for a library lawn egg hunt set to take place around 10:30 after the inside fun and games. This is a free event for all ages where all the Easter swag is welcomed and encouraged.

Wednesday, March 27th -
Spring Break season opens the start of an array of day and nighttime fun for all ages, offering community gatherings, great food and some electric musical mix-ups. The Hangout presents weekday musical courtyard jams for islanders to dance to the grooves from 6 to10 PM. Davis and the Love or DATL is an energetic traveling group that radiates love and soul. Front-man Nate Davis has sprinkled highlights from his career along the way. Together, the band has formed an arrangement of sounds and vibes that pay homage to timeless top 40 classics with a modern pop soundscape while adding Davis’s lyrical genius, deep passion and craft to the tracks. Get ready to feel the love while connecting with DATL’s welcoming stage presence for one epic night by the salty shores of the Gulf of Mexico where 59 ends and the fun begins.

Thursday, March 28th -
“The Easter Bunny’s feet, go hop, hop, hop” all the way to downtown OWA. Dressed in his finest attire, a gentlebun of sorts, Mr. Bunny will be around for photos from 10-6 at The Bunny Burrow, across the bridge from OWA Theater. Free kid activities for the day include an egg and spoon race, Easter artists hour coloring sheets, a scavenger hunt, candy jar guess and last but not least, a bonnet decorating competition. Register completed DIY bonnets with the link below for a chance to win a prize. Don’t forget to keep a lookout for golden eggs placed throughout the park for even more fun. This is one bunnies and basket event of fun for all ages that you don’t want to miss. “In your Easter Bonnet with all the frills upon it, you’ll be the grandest lady in the Easter Parade. I’ll be all in clover and when they look you over, I’ll be the proudest fellow in the Easter parade.”

Friday, March 29th -
Come out and meet Miss Madison, a known and loved boat out of Zeke’s marina that has been dolled up yet again for a specialty photo op. Any holiday event on the island wouldn't be complete without salty air and a waterfront scene. Miss Madison’s photo set has all that and more. The beauty of a boat has been embellished with vivid colors of spring flowers draped top to bottom. Guests will find props such as a bench, a charming arbor, and pop up bunnies/eggs already set for capturing holiday memories with family and friends. Don’t forget to stop in at Zeke’s restaurant for dinner or a drink with a view to polish off your Easter beach style photo session. Make it an Easter to remember with this one of a kind unique take on bunny photos.

Saturday, March 30th - 
Start the day off by joining others for one of the largest egg hunts on the Gulf Coast. The Island Church partnered with The Wharf will take over the marina lawn with what can be considered more of an egg race than a hunt. Ropes will separate the lawn for different age groups where eggs, eggs and more eggs will be scattered around making it also one of the shortest egg hunts on the Gulf Coast. Festivities to bide the extra time start at 11 AM where every bunny is welcome to partake in some low-cost activities.

FLORA-BAMA LOUNGE

In a long-time tradition, the Easter Bunny will drop from the sky at the Flora-Bama Lounge and Oyster Bar on March 30 with the fun starting at 11 a.m. with kids’ crafts and face painting. An Easter egg hunt will start at noon on the beach followed by pictures with the Easter Bunny.

 

GTS ON THE BAY

This waterfront restaurant will have an Easter Brunch 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with eggs Benedict and eggs Florentine, pork loin, chicken fried steak and shrimp and grits. It includes a trip to the salad bar for $26 for adults, $13 for kids six to 12 and $6 for five and under. Sides include sausage links and hash brown casserole and desserts include lemon bread pudding with blueberry sauce.

 

COBALT THE RESTAURANT

Entrées for the Easter Brunch buffet include prime rib, pork loin, shrimp and scallop cakes, lamb and an omelet station. Among the sides are carrots and beets, mac and cheese, roasted Brussels sprouts, grits, salads and assorted desserts.

 

 

LULU’S AT HOMEPORT MARINA

A tropically clad Easter Bunny will greet the kids at LuLu’s on Easter Sunday from noon-2 p.m. A fast-paced Easter Egg Dash will start at 1 p.m. with more than 6,000 eggs hidden around the complex. Photo ops with the Easter Bunny will also be available.

 

OWA PARKS AND RESORT

At OWA it’s time for Bunnies and Baskets and the resort will be celebrating from March 23-30 with events daily including pictures with Mr. Bunny from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., egg and spoon race, Easter egg coloring sheet, Easter egg scavenger hunt and a candy jar guess. At noon every day, there will be a bonnet decorating competition. Also, follow OWA on social media to find clues to help find the golden egg in Tropic Falls (admission required). March 30 will be a full day with inflatables on OWA Island 10 a.m.-6 p.m., live dancers in downtown OWA from noon-4 p.m. and crafts for kids from 2-5 p.m. at the Spice & Tea fountain. PERDIDO BEACH RESORT

Enjoy an Easter brunch at this beachside resort starting at 11:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday. For adults, it’s $48, $20 for kids aged six to 12 and five and under eat free. The day starts with a seaside service at 10 a.m. and includes a kid’s crafting room from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., live music with Lisa Zanghi in Nancy’s Lobby Lounge from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and photos with the Easter Bunny.

 

THE HANGOUT

There will be a sunrise service in the courtyard starting at 6:30 a.m. and breakfast seating at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. with an Easter egg hunt following each seating. Adults can eat for $19.99, kids for $8.99 and kids five and under eat free.

 

COASTAL ORANGE BEACH

Have a meet-and-greet with the Easter Bunny on March 30-31 at the Gulf Coast’s newest beachfront restaurant from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. On March 30, Sand Castle University will be on hand from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. teaching the best tips and tricks to building sand sculptures.

 

ZEKE’S RESTAURANT AND LANDING

The fun begins at 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday with brunch and will include music from noon-4 p.m., an Easter egg hunt with a Hangout Fest ticket as the big prize at 2 p.m. and pictures with the Easter Bunny from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Alabama Shrimp Harvest Halts Until June

Pursuant to Section 9-12-46, Code of Alabama as stated by Rule 220-3-.01, the Marine Resources Division (MRD) of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) announces that as of 6 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2024, all inside waters will close for commercial and recreational shrimp harvesting. All inside waters, not permanently closed by law or regulation, will reopen to shrimp harvest at 6 a.m., on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
Perdido Beach Resort Hosts First 'Paws for a Cause' Benefit Gala

Anyone who knows anything about Orange Beach knows that the community cares deeply for animals, particularly those in need of help. With this spirit, the Perdido Beach Resort is hosting the inaugural "Paws for a Cause Charity Gala" on May 10, 2024. The event, scheduled from 6 PM to 10 PM, will raise funds for the Safe Harbor Animal Coalition (S.H.A.C.), a local organization dedicated to caring for homeless and abandoned cats and dogs in Baldwin County, Alabama.

One week from today, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 3-10 and the City of Orange Beach are hosting a Safe Boating class on May 4th at the Orange Beach Fire Department, located at 25855 John M. Snook Drive (near the post office).

The event was attended by city and school leaders, community members, students, and the project team. The new high school is viewed as a key development in the area's educational facilities.

It was damaged by Hurricane Sally on Sept. 16, 2020. Young is the Southwest District Superintendent and covers Gulf State Park, Meaher State Park in Mobile and Roland Cooper State Park near Camden.

Orange Beach City Schools just announced that fifteen talented student musicians have been selected to perform live on stage with the iconic rock band Foreigner during their farewell tour. The event will take place on August 16th, 2024, at during the Foreigner concert at The Wharf in Orange Beach. Styx will also be performing that night at the Wharf.

Orange Beach has been named one of the top 10 winners of the 2024 USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice award for Best Small Town Food Scene. According to the 10Best.com article, Orange Beach's "thriving food scene" and "diverse array of dining options" impressed the judges and voters. The article highlighted the town's "locally sourced ingredients, creative menus, and talented chefs" as key factors in its victory.
