Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – In a recent showcase of global brewing prowess, the World Beer Cup crowned outstanding beers across various categories. The event, known as the largest beer competition globally, was held at the Venetian Convention and Expo Center in Las Vegas. It concluded on April 24, 2024, during the final day of the Craft Brewers Conference®.

Spanning seven days and 14 sessions, a diverse panel of 280 judges from 37 countries evaluated 9,300 entries. The entries represented 2,060 breweries from 50 countries, highlighting the competition's extensive international reach. Chris Williams, the competition director, emphasized that each award not only signifies exceptional quality but also innovation and creativity within the craft beer industry.

Among the laureates was Gulf Shores' own Big Beach Brewing Co., which secured a bronze medal for its German-style Schwarzbier, Surrender Cobra. This marks the second accolade for the beer, following a gold medal at the same event two years prior. The brewery faced stiff competition with 95 entries in its category. Rod Murray, the head brewer at Big Beach Brewing Co., who refined his craft during his time in Germany with the Army, played a pivotal role in the brewery's success.
